New Milford, Connecticut is a town of the United States that is located in western Connecticut. New Milford is present on the banks of the Housatonic River, about 14 miles from Danbury. The 2010 census estimated the population to be 28,142 as against the 2000 census which estimated the population to be 27,121.

The town is located at 50 miles from Hartford, 60 miles from Springfield, Massachusetts, 85 miles from Albany, New York and 77 miles from New York City. It is also the largest town of the region in terms of land area. 

The first Anglo-American settlers in the region that would become New Milford were John Noble Sr. and his daughter Sarah Noble. The two of them settled the town in the year 1707. A public school was later named after Sarah Noble to honor the lady. 

On 17th October 1711, around twelve families in the region petitioned in the Connecticut General Assembly as they wanted to create a new town. In addition to this, they also wanted a new minister who could lead the region. The town was organized the next year (1712) and Daniel Boardman became the new minister of the region in 21st November 1716.

The Sunny Valley Preserve in New Millford is a network of meadows, wetlands, farmlands and wood that practises and educates visitors about environment friendly farming.
