Mansfield, Connecticut is a town in the Constitution State has a population of 26,543 according to the 2010 census. The region got its name from Major Moses Mansfield, the owner of the town. When Windham was formed in 1726, the region that contained Mansfield was a part of it. It later separated from Windham in 1826.

The University of Connecticut (UConn) and the associated Connecticut Repertory Theatre are part of the town.

The Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation operated at The Mansfield Training School and Hospital until its closure. Since then however, the region has faced a regular deterioration. The University of Connecticut has tried to fix up many of the old buildings. The town also contains the Donald T. Bergin Correctional Institution that closed in 2011. It contained 1000 inmates, most of whom were towards the end of their sentence.

The region has attracted adventure lovers, police and amateur photographers due to its eerie surroundings, overturned wheelchairs, and general creepiness. In recent years, the town has seen much development. There are some open spaces in the town like Mansfield Hollow State Park,Joshua’s Trust properties, and eight town parks and preserves.

Three large farms are also present in the region. One of them is the Mountain Diary that has been operational since 1871. The town is moving on from its past and growing in a smart and rapid manner with the help of a livable downtown.
