Suffield, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, United States. The town of Suffield CT is situated in the Connecticut River Valley and borders the town of Enfield in the east. The population was 15,735 as indicated by the 2010 census. The town center is a census-designated place listed as Suffield Depot in U.S.

The town was known as Southfield, but pronounced “Suffield”. A petition for naming the town drafted on May 20, 1674, was passed the Massachusetts Bay court on June 8, 1674.

Suffield become a town in March 1682.  However, Suffield was still depicted as Southfield in maps up to the early 18th century maps. Suffield boasts of an astonishing collection of early New England architecture.  The Kent family bears the name of the town library (Kent Memorial Library).

The family hails from Gloucester MA and has distinct relations to many prominent early New England families. The descendants of Robert Olds arrived from Sherborne, Dorset UK in 1667.
