Cromwell, Connecticut located in the middle of Middlesex County, USA. Cromwell CT has a population of around 15,000.  The town of Cromwell was a part of the Middletown area known as the Upper Houses.  1651 saw the arrival of the first settlers. During 1850, there were talks of a new town separated from Middletown. Senator Levi Heaton adopted the name Cromwell. It was approved by the Connecticut General Assembly on 18th June 1851.

According to the latest data from official sources, there were 5,212 households and 3,262 families in Cromwell. The origin of the name comes from a shipping boat that travelled along the Connecticut River up to the town. The ship in turn got its name from Oliver Cromwell, who was a Puritan and Lord Protector of England. According to others, the town derived its name after the 1776 warship Cromwell.
