The town of Beacon Falls, Connecticut is in New Haven County. Beacon Falls CT lies in the southwestern part of the state of Connecticut and is bisected by the Naugatuck River. Beacon Falls has also been referred to as Beacon Falls Station, Beacon Falls Village, and the Beacon Falls Postal District inside Bethany. The region that was to become Beacon Falls (initially known as Nyumps) was first possessed by the Native American tribes of Paugusetts and Paugusucks.
Early history writings demonstrate that a previous Native American called Toby purchased a great part of the land that was to turn into the town on September 7, 1693 for 10 pounds and a barrel of juice. In 1678, pioneers from Derby CT moved to the zone. It wasn’t consolidated until 1871 on lands cut from the neighboring towns of Bethany, Seymour, Naugatuck, and Oxford.
The town was named after Beacon Hill, despite the fact that it is said that there was a craving to call it Home after the Home Woolen Mill. Beacon Falls is the home of Jim Cantore, who is a nationally known meteorologist. In May 2018, an EF1 tornado started in Beacon Falls and ripped through the town with a 9.1 mile path. The tornado caused horrific damage to the infrastructure and homes. A portion of Pine Bridge is situated inside Beacon Falls. The Beacon Falls Metro-North station is on the Waterbury part of the New Haven line.
The Depot Street Bridge over the Naugatuck River, and the Home Woolen Company have made it onto the National Register of Historic Places. Beacon Falls also has the Tracy S. Lewis House. This is the home of the President of the Beacon Falls Rubber Shoe Company. It was originally built around 1855 by the American Hard Rubber Company.
