Brookfield, Connecticut is located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, in Fairfield County. This US town has a population of over 16,000. Brookfield CT is located to the northeast of New York City. Mills started operating along the Still River since the year 1732. Thus, the region came to be known as the Ironworks District. In 1754, the assembly allowed the people of the town to build their own meeting house and choose their own minister. The town was established, incorporated, and formally got its name in 1788.
Thomas Brooks became the first minister of the region and to honour him, the town was called Brookfield. The Iron Works Aqueduct Company that was formed in 1837 still supplies water to the Brookfield Water Company.
Before 1912, the Brookfield region had 2 main stations.
