Newington, Connecticut is a town of United States that mainly contains residential suburbs. Newington CT is in Hartford County. The 2010 census stated that the region has a population of 30,652. The town also contains the headquarters of Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The town has a history spanning about 375 years. In 1636, settlers from the nearby areas took up residence on the western frontier of the town. At that time the area was rich in timber and this timber was used for making pipe staves and barrel-sized containers. At the start of the nineteenth century, many residents and commercial enterprises started coming to the town.

Levi Lusk, a veteran of the War of 1812 established the first business in the town. Many bars, hotels, motels, and stores also began to spring up in the region. Railroads came up in the 1830s and this further facilitated development.

The population of the region started to grow in the later stage of the 19th century. As a result of this population centres were formed. This helped to give the town its own identity.

From the 1870 map of Newington, it can be found that the town has four districts. These four districts are North, Middle, South and Southeast districts. The four districts have been traversed by four main roads. These were later called Berlin Turnpike, Willard Avenue, Church Street, and Main Street.
