Pomfret, Connecticut is a town that is located in Windham County, United States. Pomfret CT is currently estimated to have a population of 4,247. The land was purchased from Native Americans in 1686 and the town was incorporated in 1713 and named after Pontefract in West Yorkshire, England.

The town has a total area of 40.6 square miles, of which, 40.3 square miles of it is land and 0.3 square miles of it is water. Pomfret is bordered on the north by Woodstock, on the east by Putnam and Killingly, on the west by Eastford, and on the south by Brooklyn and Hampton.

Pomfret includes the areas of Abington, Elliotts, Pomfret, Pomfret Center, and Pomfret Landing, among others.

The principal roads that go through the town are U.S. Route 44 (running east-west), Route 169 (running north-south), and Route 101 (running east-west).
