Lady bail bonds Voluntown city

Voluntown, Connecticut is a town in New London County. Voluntown CT was originally a part of Windham County from 1726 to 1881.  The town is named for the English volunteers in the 1675 Indian wars (King Philip’s War) who stayed to fight instead of leaving. Lieutenant Thomas Leffingwell was one of the original founders of Voluntown. He secured the town’s approval in the colonial legislature and surveyed its original layout. Major General Benedict Arnold, who happened to be an infamous Revolutionary War turncoat, was a landholder.

It happens to be the home of the Voluntown Peace Trust, successor to the New England Committee for Nonviolent Action, which opposed the launch of nuclear submarines from nearby Groton and nuclear weapons testing during the Cold War era of the 1950s and 1960s.

The only school in the school district is Voluntown Elementary School. It offers grades pre-k through 8th and has offered full-day kindergarten since the 2008-2009 school year. The school has an academic program for children starting from three years of age. Students of the in-town high school have the option to attend one of the two public schools which are Griswold High School and Norwich Free Academy.

The pupils can choose a technical school too between Norwich Tech and Ellis Tech. Students can also attend Quinebaug Middle College at Q.V.C.C. in Danielson CT, and Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton CT.
